Join the American Heart Association and a distinguished panel of experts as we discuss peripheral artery disease, also known as PAD, and the amputation epidemic. PAD affects more than 8.5 million adults in the United States; the majority are 65 years and older in high-risk populations including Black, Hispanic/Latino and southern/rural communities. Untreated PAD can greatly increase a patient’s risk for more serious conditions such as kidney disease and foot gangrene, which can lead to leg amputation.
The PAD Collaborative has developed a"heat map" that illustrates rates of lower limb amputation, a serious complication of PAD, geographically and by Congressional district.
Join us for a reception event from 5 – 6 pm as we unveil the Non-Traumatic Lower Extremity Amputations by Congressional District “Heat Map” and how you can be a part of setting a course for equitable vascular care for all. No registration necessary.
Panelists include:
Amy Pollak, MD
Foluso Fakorede, MD
Joshua Beckman, MD
Marc Bonaca, MD
Olamide Alabi, MD
