Session Description

Dr. Ridker, Dr. Tardif, and Dr. Tuttle will provide attendees with a comprehensive review of the anti-inflammatory therapeutic landscape and equip the audience with a practical framework for identifying and managing residual CV inflammatory risk in their patients.

Educational Objectives

  • Describe the role of the IL-1β→IL-6→CRP inflammatory pathway in atherosclerotic plaque progression and rupture, and explain the clinical evidence supporting hsCRP as an independent predictor of recurrent MACE in statin-treated patients with ASCVD
  • Identify patients across cardiology subspecialties with established ASCVD and residual inflammatory risk, and apply a structured hsCRP screening and interpretation framework to clinical decision-making
  • Discuss the mechanism, clinical outcomes evidence, safety profile, and appropriate patient selection for low-dose colchicine as the current standard of evidence-based anti-inflammatory secondary prevention
