Target: Aortic Stenosis
New AHA program focuses on deficiencies in diagnosis and treatment of deadly heart valve disease.
Aortic stenosis is one of the most common and serious valve disease problems affecting about 5% of Americans age 65 and older. However, many patients are unaware or undiagnosed. To tackle the problem, the American Heart Association has launched the Target: Aortic Stenosis initiative. The goal of the program is to enhance the patient experience from symptom onset to appropriate diagnosis and follow-through, to timely treatment and disease management.
