Food Is Medicine movement gains traction
The link between consumption of healthy foods and improved health outcomes is undeniable and now backed by research.

In January 2024, the American Heart Association Health Care by Food Initiative announced over $8M in funding for Food Is Medicine research. This supports innovative studies across a range of populations, clinical conditions and interventions, all with a focus on improving engagement and initiating short-term behavior change with Food Is Medicine interventions.
#AHA25 will feature a pavilion on the Science & Technology floor as well as a dedicated session, “The AHA Health Care by Food Initiative Is Bearing Fruits: Early Results From the AHA Food Is Medicine Pilot Projects.” The Monday afternoon session will focus on the first round of results from these trials, examining different types of Food Is Medicine interventions as well as learnings about improving engagement and maximizing impact.
