Start-ups bring bold ideas to Health Tech Competition

Tomorrow’s technology and fresh thinking took center stage during yesterday’s Health Tech Competition, where a group of health care technology companies presented their solutions to improve heart and brain health. The live event, held in the Health Innovation Pavilion, focused on the next generation of tools aimed at transforming patient outcomes and advancing cardiovascular care.
Nancy Brown, CEO of the American Heart Association, introduced the competition by congratulating the finalists and welcoming attendees. “We’re really excited about our Center for Health Technology & Innovation, which has been focused for many, many years on how new technologies can improve cardiovascular and brain health for our patients. We know that our participating companies are providing very innovative solutions, and we’re really looking forward to hearing your pitches.”
Finalists had seven minutes to pitch their innovation to a panel of judges, followed by an interactive seven-minute Q&A session. Saturday’s round emphasized each company’s business model and market potential, while Sunday’s follow-up presentations will highlight the science and data behind their innovations.
This year’s finalists and their technologies include:
- Brainomix (Oxford, England): Creating AI-powered software to improve stroke diagnosis and treatment decisions.
- Cambrian Health (San Francisco): Building an AI-powered platform that ensures clinical best practices are seamlessly executed at the point of care.
- Lumia (Boston): Delivering wearable solutions for people with orthostatic intolerance and chronic blood flow disorders.
- Noah Labs (Berlin): Transforming voice into a digital biomarker to enable earlier intervention for cardiometabolic diseases.
- PolyVascular (Houston): Developing minimally invasive solutions for children with congenital heart disease, aiming to reduce the need for repeated open heart surgeries.
The panel of expert volunteer judges will review business and science presentations from each company based on validity, scientific rigor and real-world impact on patients. Winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. Sunday in the Health Innovation Pavilion.
The Health Tech Competition remains a cornerstone of the association’s efforts to accelerate innovation in cardiovascular care and underscores its mission to advance equitable, life-saving solutions and extend healthy lifespans worldwide.
